Trinity Baptist College men’s basketball will begin in October, but the recruiting season is still going strong. Coach John D. Jones has signed an outside shooter from one of Central Florida’s top-rated programs of recent years. Shooting guard and forward Steve Branch brings poise and productivity to the Eagles’ roster.
Steve Branch — Orlando, Florida
Steve, a 6’3″ freshman, attended The First Academy in Orlando, Florida, where he played two years on the JV team before his promotion to varsity under head coach Chris Mayberry. Steve is the son of Mr. Ron Mrs. Robin Branch.
As a junior in 2016-2017, Steve helped the varsity Royals to a Florida 5A, District 6 championship and a Regional Final appearance as part of a 27-2 campaign that saw the Royals finish the regular season as the #1 ranked team in Central Florida. In addition, Steve won a Florida AAU State Championship under Coach Byron Roberts. Steve averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists per game with the AAU Orlando Heat, and as a senior, he shot 50% from three point range and 100% from the free throw line for The First Academy.

Steve played varsity boys volleyball as well, but his most impressive achievements came academically. Steve was a member of the National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was on The First Academy’s Headmaster’s List and Principal’s List, and he was a grade representative for student government. Steve graduated with a 4.80 GPA as Magna Cum Laude and an AP Scholar.
When asked why he chose Trinity Baptist College, Steve explained how much the school fills many of his needs. “TBC is a great fit for me in all aspects of life: spiritually, academically, and athletically,” he said. “Most importantly, it is a place where I can grow closer to God and become a better man. I loved the tight-knit community aspect of the school, and all the people I met here were great. TBC is giving me an opportunity to fulfil my childhood dream of playing collegiate basketball.”
Steve plans to major in finance and join the business world fresh out of college. His life verse is John 16:33, which says, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Trinity Baptist College is pleased to welcome Steve Branch to the TBC family.
