Six-Year varsity soccer player Josh Cook has signed on to continue his stellar play at Trinity Baptist College. Josh began his varsity tenure in seventh grade and later helped lead his team to a Florida state title. Now in college, he looks to add to that success by winning a national championship with Coach Elie Jean and the Eagles.
Joshua S. Cook – Fleming Island, FL
Josh is a graduate of Fleming Island High School, where he played varsity soccer as a junior and a senior under head coach Frank Pontore and assistant Michael Green. Josh transferred from Jacksonville’s University Christian School, where he played varsity soccer from grades 7-10 under head coach Ralph Graham. Josh is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Josh and Jess Cook.
Josh was a member of the Fleming Island Golden Eagles’ Florida Class 4A State Championship team in 2017. He also earned honorable mention to the All-Clay County roster. Josh was a starting forward and also played center back at University, scoring 18 goals and compiling numerous assists. At Fleming Island, he played mainly center back. He also played for the Clay County Soccer Club in Fleming Island and Florida Elite Soccer Academy in St Johns, Florida.
When asked why he chose Trinity Baptist College, Josh described the school’s cozy atmosphere and its proximity to home. “I chose Trinity because it is a small school close to my family,” Josh said, “and I want to surround myself with people who can help me on my path and grow as a student and as a person. At Trinity, I am looking forward to creating new friendships and working towards a future that will benefit myself and others.”
Josh is undecided at this time about his plans for after college, but he has time to figure that out. He does, however, want to work in a field that keeps him in constant motion. “I would like to begin working at a job that I love. I am looking to do something hands-on that keeps me active and moving,” he said. His life verse is Proverbs 18:13, which says, “He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.”
In addition to his family and high-school coaches, Josh recognizes others who have helped lead him to success on and off the field. “I would like to recognize my coaches at Florida Elite who have strongly contributed to my successful path in my high school soccer career: Coach Mike Johnson and Coach John McClelland.”
The Eagles are proud to welcome Josh Cook to Trinity Baptist College.
