Despite a valiant effort against one of the NCCAA’s best defenses, the Eagles were unable to break through and fell 3-0 to NCCAA D-1/NAIA Warner University Royals Saturday evening in Lake Wales, Florida.

Trinity attackers penetrated the defense often, but the Royals defenders were able to make their way back in time to limit the Eagles to seven total shots, four of them on goal. Joseph Nava, who scored twice Friday afternoon at Ave Maria University, took three of those shots with two of them headed toward the net. However, Warner goalkeeper Christian de Souza blocked both to pick up two of his four saves on the night.

Tcharlentz Milius and Clayton McDaniel each had shots on goal, and Naisier Guanipa and Gabriel Zaffro also took shots against a might defensive front.

Eagles goalkeeper Kyle Aultman saved four of seven Warner shots on goal, and the Eagles’ defense forced all remaining Warner shots to stray away from the net.

Warner’s Daniel Rodriguez (1:28), Colton Elder (39:53), and Matheus Santiago (81:56) each scored for the Royals.

Despite the loss, the Eagles drew high praise from Warner SID and play-by-play announcer Kyle Blue, who said, “The Eagles played a hard-fought game…. They are good!”

The Eagles will visit NCAA Division 2 Florida Southern College at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 30. They will then return to Jacksonville for their home opener with Florida College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1. Two more home games will follow versus two NAIA opponents in Webber International University and Point University on September 8 and 10, respectively.
