Destiny Green and Megan Gooden tied for the game-high total with 15 points as the Lady Eagles played host to South Region rival Bob Jones University Friday afternoon. Bob Jones, though, picked up the win by a final score of 63-39.
Green was 7 for 17 from the field and added a free throw to compile her 15 points while Gooden sank three of Trinity’s four three-point shots and both her free-throw attempts. Gooden also pulled in three rebounds.
Green was the game’s leading rebounder as well with 11; in addition, she blocked three shots and stole away a Bruins possession.
Diamond Alford added four points for Trinity, Natalia Lopez contributed three, and Faith DeVaughn scored two. Alford also grabbed eight rebounds, and Avianna Phillips had seven.
For the Bruins, Sha’Ron Brunson and Kylee Lefew led their team in scoring with 12 and 11 points, respectively, and Sarah Thompson and Madison Shupe each followed with nine. Shupe also hit double digits in rebounds with 10.
The Lady Eagles will travel with the men to Pensacola Christian College on Saturday. The women will tip off at 5:30 p.m. CST (6:30 EST), and the gentlemen will play at 7:30 Central (8:30 Eastern). Both teams will then travel to Trinity College of Florida on Tuesday, February 6, before returning home to host Pensacola Christian on February 13.
