TBC Eagles Women’s Basketball will have a whole new look — and outlook — for the upcoming 2018-2019 season. Head coach Judy Allen has added a plethora of new talent, and she looks to lead her team toward a South Region title. Coach Allen has added a player used to playing winning basketball as Eboni Smith joins the Lady Eagles.

Eboni Angelnetta Janai Smith — Haines City, FL

Eboni attended Haines City Senior High School and Lake Wales High School, where she combined for one year of JV basketball and three years on squad. She played for coach Marsha Paul at Haines City and Coach D. Saunder at Lake Wales. Eboni is the daughter of Ms. Angenetta Sanchious.

As a freshman, Eboni won her team’s Most Valuable Player award before helping to lead Haines City to district championships in three consecutive seasons from 2014-2017. She averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists per game.

Eboni has also played in AAU basketball tournaments with Florida Finest under Coach L. Akins and College Sound Ballers with Coach Michelle Anderson, who is responsible for leading Eboni to signing with Trinity.

In the classroom, Eboni was an A-B honor-roll student throughout high school.

When asked why she chose Trinity Baptist College, Eboni stated her desire to seek more of Jesus Christ while earning her degree. “It’s a great school, and I am a Christian, too,” she said, “so going somewhere to get an education and enhance my religion is respected as great.

After college, Eboni hopes to play professional basketball, but if that does not pan out, she has a very nice back-up plan that would keep her involved with athletes: “I would like to be a physical therapist,” she proclaimed. Her favorite verse is John 3:16, which says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Eagles are pleased to welcome Eboni Smith to the TBC community.
